This was to be the final pre bone marrow transplant (BMT) check-up to make sure the it was still safe to proceed.

Just before going on holiday for Christmas I had one wisdom tooth extracted, and although it had been nearly five weeks since the procedure there was still a small hole in the jaw where the tooth was. I felt this may compromise the operation and wanted the doctors to examine this as well as making a final once over check. It seems as though the wisdom tooth extraction won't affect the risk of infection, but there was a little concern over some spots on my neck that had appear recently.

A quick appointment was made with the dermatologist for the next day to confirm the skin wouldn't pose any problems. Infact it was just some ingrown hairs, and he prescribed some liquid anti-biotics.

With all the checks out the way, I have to call the hospital on Sunday morning to confirm that a bed is free and then it's chocks away with the BMT.

I'm aiming to update the web pages a couple of times per week, but that is dependant on how I'm feeling at the time.
