Mum accompanied me to the hospital
on this occasion. Once again it was one of those days where outpatients
was completely packed. Eventually I had my first bloods taken without
the hickman line, just a regular butterfly needle. The appointment
was pretty standard again. The bloods showed an increase from the
last visit after I received the blood transfusion. In fact the blood
transfusion was great, or more precisely the blood given was great.
It made all the difference to how I felt. For a while before the transfusion
I was begining to worry about my rate of progress. For example I would
go on daily walks with Mum, but I was feeling quite puffed and was
getting muscle aches normally associated when you really push yourself
in the gym. Until the transfusion I couldn't understand what was wrong
but it's very clear what was happening. I was feeling the effects
of a low red cell count. This meant I wasn't getting sufficient oxygen
to my muscles, as well as generally having less oxygen in my system.
This also explained the headrushes and feelings of lightheadedness
I was experiencing.
The fingers were showing signs of further improvement, but apart from
that there was nothing left to discuss except some questions regarding
relaxing the diet a little. 13 Days left till the 100 day barrier.
