My parents and I drove up to London to get an update on the donor
situation. It had been some time since the previous visit, so we
were anxious to know whether a suitable donor had been found. The
visit was by far the most productive visit in terms of the information
given to us by the consultant regarding both the donor hunting process
and how the leukaemia was supposed to be affecting me.
We found out that my immune system should actually be functioning
very well, infact it should be at 99% of its normal effectiveness.
The only thing that could be affecting the body would be the medication
that is controlling the blood count, which had fallen to a suitably
low level, also bringing down the platelet count.
